For the first time ever, a show led by autistic actors is on Broadway in new musical How to Dance in Ohio.
Based on a true story and an award-winning documentary, How to Dance in Ohio follows seven autistic young adults in Ohio as they prepare themselves for a spring formal dance, a rite of passage that will cause them (and their families) to enter into the next phase of their lives.
And, in a display of ground-breaking representation, the lead roles are played by seven autistic performers — an unprecedented feat as autistic characters have never before been played by openly autistic actors in Broadway history.
